Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is a mercurial musician and singer who blends the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B with a distinctive mix. From Broadway to European festival and clubs, the singer has done work everywhere. Her real name is Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career playing the piano and singing in the church. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical training began on Atlanta's R&B Scene. In 2005, she was employed as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, who won Tony and Grammy Awards for her voice, asked Sunshine to join the Dreamgirls show during the Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was recognized nationally during her four daily performances during 2008's Democratic National Convention. She was then invited to perform in the Obama administration's inaugural in 2009.
