Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman in business. She is currently the president and the controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and grew up an heir to a prestigious family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was a real estate tycoon and later proprietor of Lakers as well as other companies. She felt abandoned emotionally after her parents split in the year 1972. When she was 19 years old, she joined the family business as the director of the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. After that, she established the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She was the president at the Great Western Forum, before being elected Vice President of the Lakers.
